REDEMPTION- short story

“Crap! I overslept again.” the rush scream following the hallucinating glance of the triangular clock hung against the alabaster wall brings the ferocious pace of life of Stephen Hailcrown, who formerly known as a guy who never catch on-time! It is sunny morning at the very end of the weekdays. Normally, people appear to be fascinating with every dangle of detailed troublesome matter at this very leisure day. Apparently, Stephen is absolutely an exception in this case. To Stephen’s concern, nothing is matter if he can hook off his job early and hit to his bed without hindrance.

Running all the way to the office, just to avoid trivial expense of public transportation and annoying halting between stops, Hailcrown has successfully again demonstrated his dingy personality for no doubt. Sweating and puffing like plump old lady who is forced to run on her own errands, Stephen Hailcrown surrendered to this cruel reality since the beginning of his life. Clicking sound of keyboard strikes the beginning of symbolic working day. Hazing as usual, sliding into the seat did Stephen find himself in such dire that all docs for morning meeting have been left on rather cozy top of upscale ergonomic hand-made desk at home. On the cusp of mental breakup comes with the assistance of the colossal echoing of chitchats from Office witches. “Whoosh! The hell it is! He is the damn genius! What dashing he looks! Wu ho lala!” Vicious words like torrential downpour fall down on Stephen’s fragile rationality, hitting in like tsunami devouring the last defense of sensibility.” I am going to lose my mind now!” as he screamed mentally. What in the world how these nagging spinsters always lush the word like the endless waves of perfect storm. Plainly meaningless! Purely bullshit and somehow metaphorically annoying! Even more furiously is that no matter how nice they are to you, these old desperate bit-i-chys are bossy and manipulative! Like old days, works needed them to be done befall on your shoulder because of your less seniority! Even the sacred saints may shout in exasperation” Pride hath its fall!”

Here comes the big brother! The most notorious ass in universe strolls into office and demand others to take look at her outstanding shinning face. Nevertheless, it occurs to Stephen that the creepy face may terrifiy the bravest warrior in warfare. Everyone avoids the direct conflict with Mrs. Peach as she will tear you down if you offend her. For Stephen, such creature is impossible. How could she be in this office for over for long without getting axe? Nepotism, it must be! Deepening in his fathom, hideous noise drifts all the way from the front entrance of office to the very end of storage room.
”Who messy up with my desk? How dare you!!” Mrs. Peach screamed hysterically like lunatic in the coco house. Confronted by this devilish lady, poor Cantina shivers as huge earthquake shatters her foundation.
“What in God’s name makes such creature!” Stephen thought.

Squabble is not done yet whilst Karen Walker’s duplicitous remarks attempt to soothe the wrath of hell. The purpose of doing so seems justified but arbitrary. How came a world-known dual-faced jester metamorphoses herself into the admirable hero with immerse cavalry sabotaging the rage of fiend dragon with name of Ms. Peach. Is it out of good intention? Well, the ulterior motive obviously did not impress Stephen in that way. As far as he is concerned, it is more likely the necessary evil. The act taken by Walker can merely lift her up to the heaven’ ladder and, by the same moment, convince the tyranny dictator of this very dingy office, Ms. Petagon, that the Walker is forever the peacemaker as “Sky”walkers are in star war movie.

All melodramas running in this tiny office exhaust Hailcrown in the torrential-down pour speed. It drains his energy and sulks his spirit. How can he still be here after one and a half year? What in heaven’s name pluck him up as fearless gladiator in this Romanian coliseum for such long length of period without considering drawing out? In fact, the true reason behind this unbreakable faith toward the ABC Inc. remains mystery. “I am 26 yrs, just out of school. I have big bright future laid ahead of me. What a rush push myself too hard and enter into another unknown murderous societal jungle without preparing myself first.” He thought. Paradoxically, it also strikes him as to whether such unadventurous cowardice can ultimately strengthen him up like hard core brass, none-intrusive and callous, before leading himself to the real battle. Haunting like weeping phantom contradicting his concrete belief, Stephen come again to the blink of mental collapse till the moment of redemption clicks in. An unresisting fragrance permeates into very hook and cranny of the space while the marvelous figure floats elegantly next to him. Unforgettable sensation resembling the circuit current electrifies the damn spirit of his and brings him back to life. An angel, named as Audrey Vane, lands down to the earth. Like enchantress of Florence from Salmon Rucidi’s book, she mesmerizes him, enticing him, even seducing him to the bluff of purgatory. No regrets at all! Around her, near her, Hailcrown transforms himself into daredevil. No scare of the crushing of sky above his head. No care for the crumbling of earth under his foot. He, so to speak, is almighty, the omnipotent.
